The Graduate Special Education Program Experience

  • With an M.A. in Special Education from St. Joseph’s University, you will be well-prepared for initial certification in New York State Students with Disabilities (all grades), as well as receive a New York State Annotation for Severe and Multiple Disabilities (prekindergarten through grade 12).
  • Through a strong research component, students are exposed to the theory and practice of several distinct areas, including assessment, inclusion of family, psychological and social characteristics, and support for students with physical impairments.
  • Prepare to be a highly effective special education teacher who serves students with mild, moderate and severe disabilities. Our program addresses the challenges of teachers in the field of special education, creates leaders, and upholds and advances the principles set forth by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
  • With hybrid and online courses, these programs provide working adults with the flexibility they need.
